Why does my throat feel so slimey?

I was riding my bike on Saturday and something flew down my throat. Now, Tuesday, I believe what ever went down my throat is gone. However I noticed my throat feels very slimey. I believe it's mucus however I can't cough it up. Does anyone know what this can be? Is it just good coincidence or could what ever flew down my throat be causing this? Also, I am a male and am usually good at getting flem/mucus up from my throat but this time wont come out. Any help/advice for me on how to clear it up or what it could be? I am going to be going to the doctor on Friday if it doesn't clear up by then. Thanks to anyone who gives actual helpful answers! :D
